I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord. Psalm 122:1
How are your Sunday mornings? Do you rush around hollering for the kids to brush their teeth, put on their shoes, tighten their belts? Are you fighting over the bathroom to try to get dressed? Do you run out the door breathless and run back in to be sure the stove is turned off? Do you get to church saying, “Whew, we made it.” Are you so exhausted from the morning that you file into your seat to find yourself barely focused because you are so tired? Sundays don’t have to be that way. Sundays should not be the examples from above.
If the devil is going to fight a family, it is going to be on Sunday mornings. If the flesh is going to battle with contention it will be on Sunday mornings. Why is our flesh this way? Why are Sunday mornings such a struggle?
Sunday is the day set apart to be focused on the Lord.
Many times we attack Sunday's lackadaisical. We wake up as any other morning hoping everything will be smooth. An athlete going to the Championship game does not wait till the moment of the game to focus on the task at hand. An athlete prepares days, months, and years ahead of time. We should prepare for Sundays, the “championship game of the week.”
The following are tips I am learning from others or through trial and error. Try the following pointers. Victory can be had on Sunday mornings. It is possible to arrive at church ready to sing, shout, praise Him, and stay awake during the whole message. It is not just possible, it is necessary for our spiritual growth and for our impact on others.
SUNDAY MORNING DO’s:
-Prepare clothing on Saturday. Lay out everyone’s clothes. Iron clothes on Saturday. Don’t wait until Sunday morning to look for Johnny’s brown dress shoes. Look for them on Saturday.
-Meal prep on Saturdays.
-Use your crockpot as much as possible. Place food in the crockpot on Saturday and plug it in Saturday night/Sunday morning. Do not try a new recipe. Choose a dependable meal that you cook well with ease.
-Buy and use a crockpot with a timer that will place food on warm when it is done.
-If you are not a daily hair washer, wash your hair the day before.
-Plan an easy breakfast or teach your child to get breakfast on his own with ease.
-Go to bed at a reasonable hour.
-Wake up early!
-Get dressed before the kids or husband.
-Wake up in time to read a Proverb and pray.
-Leave at the same time every Sunday. Make kids aware of the time they need to be ready.
-Crucify the flesh. Don’t hit the snooze button
-Lay baby shoes/socks at the front door or in the diaper bag. Many times they will kick them off if you put them on too early.
-Pack the diaper bag on Saturday.
-Prepare Sunday School material on Saturday.
-If possible, don't make big plans on Saturday. Use Saturday (or at least part of the day) to prepare for Sunday!
If you have any Sunday Morning Tips please share in the comments. I desire to go to church ready to worship!
